The pink taxi in Dubai is the Families and Ladies Taxi run by Dubai Taxi Company (DTC). Every car has a pink roof and a female driver, and it carries only women and families. You can book one on the Bolt or S’hail apps, find one at Dubai’s airports, malls and hospitals, or flag one on the street. Fares are the same as a regular taxi.
Quick answer: Pink-roof taxi, female driver, women and families of any nationality only. Book on Bolt or S’hail, or call DTC on 800 88088. Street hail starts at AED 5 (AED 5.50 at night), app bookings start at AED 9 to AED 13, and the minimum fare is AED 12 on the street or AED 13 by app.
We checked DTC’s service page in October 2026 for the fares and booking channels below.
What is the pink taxi in Dubai?
The pink taxi is a standard metered RTA taxi with two differences: a pink roof sign and a woman behind the wheel. DTC launched the service in 2007 with 10 cars. Today DTC calls it the Families and Ladies Taxi and describes the vehicle as a spacious taxi, often a van, so there is room for children and shopping bags.
It is not a separate, premium product. You pay the same meter, follow the same rules (no eating, smoking or pets) and can use the same payment methods as any other cab.
Who can ride a ladies taxi in Dubai?
DTC’s rule is short: the ladies taxi Dubai service is for ladies and families of any nationality. In practice that means:
- A woman travelling alone or with other women.
- A family group, which can include husbands, fathers or sons travelling with them.
- Children travelling with their mother or a female relative.
A man travelling alone, or a group of men, cannot use it. If you are a man meeting your family, book a regular taxi or a van instead.
How to book a pink taxi in Dubai
There are four ways to get one:
- Bolt app. DTC’s own website directs riders to Bolt. Choose the Families and Ladies Taxi option when it appears for your pickup.
- S’hail app. RTA’s journey planner app lets you pick “women taxi” as the vehicle type before you confirm.
- Taxi ranks. Pink taxis wait at Dubai International Airport and at many hospitals and malls, subject to availability.
- Street hail or phone. Wave one down if you see it, or call DTC on 800 88088.
Booking ahead is the sensible option at busy times. Pink taxis are a small share of Dubai’s taxis, so on a weekday evening a regular cab will usually reach you first. If you need a female driver, leave extra time before anything you cannot be late for.
Pink taxi fares in 2026
Charge | Street hail | App booking | Airport / exclusive ranks |
Starting fare | AED 5 (6am–10pm), AED 5.50 (10pm–6am) | AED 9 off-peak, AED 13 peak, AED 10 night | AED 25 |
Per kilometre | Same as regular taxi meter | Same as regular taxi meter | Same as regular taxi meter |
Minimum fare | AED 12 | AED 13 | Covered by the start fare |
Waiting | 50 fils a minute | 50 fils a minute | 50 fils a minute |
Sharjah trip | + AED 20 | + AED 20 | + AED 20 |
Salik | Per gate | Per gate | Per gate |
Two things to know. DTC’s ladies taxi page listed AED 2.19 per km while its regular taxi page showed AED 2.45 at the same time, so one page was out of date. The meter charges the current monthly rate either way. And pink taxis at airport ranks start at AED 25, higher than the AED 20 DTC lists for regular airport cars, because many are vans.

Pink taxi from Dubai Airport
If you land at DXB, follow the taxi signs in Terminal 1, 2 or 3 and ask the taxi marshal for a ladies taxi. Expect a short wait for one to come forward. The meter starts at AED 25 and the Sharjah fee applies if you are going north.

Women taxi Dubai alternatives
If no pink taxi is free, these are the realistic options:
- Ameera Limousine. DTC’s luxury chauffeur service for women, also with female drivers. It costs more than a taxi.
- Women-only metro cabin. The Dubai Metro has a section reserved for women and children on every train.
- Ride-hailing apps. Careem and Uber do not guarantee a female driver, but every trip is GPS-tracked with the driver’s name and plate. Our Careem vs Uber vs Dubai Taxi guide compares prices.
Our view: for a female driver at taxi prices, the pink taxi is the only option in Dubai. Ameera is worth it only when you want a premium car.
Ladies taxis in other emirates
Emirate | Service | How to book |
Abu Dhabi | Family taxi option in the ITC fleet | Abu Dhabi Taxi app or 600 53 53 53 |
Sharjah | Ladies taxi in the Sharjah fleet | Sharjah taxi app or call centre |
Ajman | Mahra taxi, pink roof | Route app |
Ras Al Khaimah | Women’s taxi run by RAKTA, pink hood | RAKTA app or call centre |
Fares and apps in these emirates follow each local authority’s tariff, not Dubai’s, and change separately. Check the local app before you travel.
What commonly goes wrong
- Booking a regular taxi by mistake. In apps, the ladies option sits next to the standard taxi. Check the label before confirming.
- Assuming a family van means any group. A mixed group of colleagues who are not family may be refused.
- Waiting at the wrong rank. At malls, pink taxis often use the main taxi queue, not a separate one. Ask the rank marshal.
Frequently asked questions
Can men ride in a pink taxi in Dubai?
Only as part of a family. DTC limits the Families and Ladies Taxi to women and families, so a husband, father or son travelling with female relatives can ride, but a man alone or a group of men cannot. Men travelling alone should book a regular taxi, which costs the same.
Is the pink taxi more expensive than a normal taxi?
No. Pink taxis use the same RTA meter and the same street-hail and app start fares as regular taxis: AED 5 on the street by day, AED 9 to AED 13 by app, and an AED 12 or AED 13 minimum. The one higher start is AED 25 at airport and exclusive ranks.
How do I book a pink taxi on the app?
Open Bolt or RTA’s S’hail app, set your pickup and destination, and choose the Families and Ladies or women taxi option as the vehicle type before confirming. If the option does not appear, no pink taxi is nearby at that moment. You can also call DTC on 800 88088 to request one.
Are pink taxis available 24 hours in Dubai?
DTC runs taxis around the clock, including the Families and Ladies Taxi, but pink taxis are a small part of the fleet. Late at night and during rush hour you may wait longer. Booking through an app or calling DTC gives you the best chance of getting one quickly.
Getting a pink taxi Dubai ride without the wait
Book on Bolt or S’hail, pick the women taxi option, and allow extra time at peak hours. Pay the same meter as any cab, plus AED 25 to start at the airport. Before long trips, confirm current rates and booking options on DTC’s Families and Ladies Taxi page or RTA’s Taxi for Female service page.
