Etihad Rail Abu Dhabi station at Mohamed Bin Zayed City

Table of Contents

The Etihad Rail Abu Dhabi station is in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, opposite Dalma Mall and next to Mussafah Bus Station. It is not in the city centre. To reach downtown, Yas or Saadiyat, you take an Etihad Rail shuttle for Dh10, a taxi or a bus. The station opens from 05:00 to 23:00 daily.

That last-mile question is the part to plan before you travel, so this guide focuses on it.

Where is Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Rail station?

Etihad Rail’s Abu Dhabi station page gives the location as Mohamed Bin Zayed City, ME10. The National places it opposite Dalma Mall and next to Mussafah Bus Station. Coming from Dubai? Our Dubai Etihad Rail guide has all five departures and fares.

Khaleej Times describes Mohamed Bin Zayed City station as on the outskirts of the city, about 30 minutes by road from Zayed International Airport, and close to Mussafah, Shakhbout City and Bani Yas. It was inaugurated on 23 June 2026 and took its first passengers on 30 June.

If you are staying on the Corniche or Reem Island, expect the ride from the station to take longer than the train from Dubai.

How do you get from the station into Abu Dhabi?

There are four options:

  1. Etihad Rail shuttle bus: Dh10 to three city stops, booked in advance.
  2. Taxi or ride-hailing: from the taxi and e-hailing area outside.
  3. Public bus: from Mussafah Bus Station next door.
  4. Car: your own, a pick-up, or a rental from the desk at the station.

Abu Dhabi has no metro, so there is no rail link onward from Mohamed Bin Zayed City station.

Each ride costs Dh10 and must be booked in advance on the app or website, according to The National and Gulf News. Etihad Rail lists all three stops on its website.

The shuttle is the cheapest way into the city. It is also slow to the Corniche and Reem. By the time you reach Reem Mall, your trip from Dubai has taken about two hours.

Taxi times and fares to Yas, Saadiyat and Downtown

The National estimated these taxi and ride-hailing trips from the station:

Driving and parking at the station

Etihad Rail lists a car park, a pick-up and drop-off area and a car rental service among the station’s amenities. We could not find a published parking rate for Abu Dhabi station at the time of writing, so check the app before you drive.

For Abu Dhabi residents living in Mussafah, Shakhbout City or Khalifa City, driving to the Abu Dhabi rail station and parking is the easiest way to catch an early train to Dubai.

What facilities does the station have?

According to Etihad Rail, the MBZ City station has:

  • Wi-Fi, a car park and a car rental desk
  • ticket vending machines and an information and support desk
  • a waiting area and a family waiting area
  • food and drink outlets and a retail outlet

The first two Dubai departures, 06:43 and 07:43, appear on Etihad Rail’s station page. Our Dubai to Abu Dhabi train guide has the rest, and the Sharjah Al Dhaid station guide covers the Al Dhaid route.

Which way into the city is best?

For Yas Island, take a taxi. It is 30 to 40 minutes, and the shuttle does not go there.

For ADNEC or events in Al Rawdah, take the shuttle. At Dh10 against a taxi fare several times higher, it is the clear winner.

For the Corniche or Reem, it depends on your budget. The shuttle is cheap but slow, while a taxi saves 10 to 20 minutes. Travelling as a family of four, four shuttle seats cost Dh40 against The National’s estimate of Dh55 to Dh70 for a taxi to the Corniche, so the gap is small and the taxi takes you to the door.
