The E16 to Hatta now starts at Union

This is the change most guides have missed. Until 2025, the E16 to Hatta ran from Al Sabkha Bus Station. RTA moved its Dubai end to Union from 2 May 2025, according to itsroute change announcement.

From Union, the E16 runs through Oud Metha, Al Warsan and Al Awir, then out along the Hatta road through Lehbab and Al Madam to Hatta Bus Station. RTA’s data showed a run time of about 2 hours 30 minutes, with trips every 60 to 120 minutes.

That frequency is the main thing to plan around. If you miss a bus, the next one can be two hours away. OurDubai to Hatta bus guide also covers the faster Hatta Express from Dubai Mall.

The E16 is a long, scenic ride. Check the return times before you go.

Union to Sharjah and Ajman

E303 to Sharjah ends at Al Jubail Bus Station. It is the most convenient Sharjah bus for people in Deira and anyone coming off the metro. RTA set AED 12 for its newer Dubai–Sharjah route E308, and E303 has been reported at the same fare. OurDubai to Sharjah bus guide compares all the Sharjah routes.

E400 to Ajman runs to Ajman Bus Station. It has been reported at around AED 15. See ourDubai to Ajman bus guide for timings and the alternative E411 from Etisalat by e&.

At peak commuting times, the Sharjah corridor is slow. A bus that takes under an hour mid-morning can take much longer around 6 pm. If you can, travel outside the evening rush.

Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah from Union?

Fujairah: the RTA E700 no longer uses Union. It runs from Etisalat by e& Bus Station in Al Qusais. Take the Green Line from Union to e&, the last stop. Details are in ourDubai to Fujairah bus guide.

Ras Al Khaimah: RTA does not run a Dubai–RAK route. Ras Al Khaimah’s own transport authority has run buses between RAK and the Union metro area, as Gulf News reported in 2024. Times and stops are set by RAK, so check before you go. OurDubai to Ras Al Khaimah bus guide has the latest.

Union bus timings

City buses run from about 4 am to 1 am across Dubai, per theRTA timetable. Each route sets its own first and last bus. The intercity routes from Union generally start early in the morning and finish in the evening, while the E16 has the widest gaps between trips.

Use S’hail on the day. Route times are adjusted several times a year.

How to get to Union by metro or bus

By metro: Union station is on both lines. Follow the signs to the bus station exit.

From Al Ghubaiba: take the Green Line towards e& and get off at Union (G20), four stops away. See ourAl Ghubaiba bus station guide for that side of the creek.

From Gold Souq: it is two stops on the Green Line from Gold Souq (G22) to Union (G20). OurGold Souq bus station guide covers routes there.

Mistakes people make at Union

Going to Al Sabkha for Hatta. The E16 left Al Sabkha in 2025.

Waiting at Union for Fujairah. E700 now leaves from Etisalat by e&.

Mixing up Union and the street stops. Some routes stop on the main roads outside rather than inside the station. Check the stop name in S’hail.

Forgetting the return. On the E16 and intercity routes, the last bus back can be earlier than you expect.
